Large group accommodation in Bali – why villas are better!

Have you ever dreamed about getting a group of all your favourite people together and heading off to Bali?  Maybe you want to go away as a group of friends for a hen or stag do, a wedding, or a special birthday. Or maybe it’s just for the sheer joy of getting all your gang together somewhere hot, tropical and totally chilled. Whatever the reason, we have your back, and our advice is to consider booking a villa rather than a hotel. So why is a villa the perfect solution for large group accommodation?

First of all, it’s private. You have the whole space to yourself! No annoying guests to worry about here.

Secondly, a villa gives you plenty of space to spread out. You’ll have multiple bedrooms of course but you’ll also have plenty of living space indoors and outdoors, with pools and gardens. Some of our villas have cinema rooms, gyms, entertainment rooms…all just for you and your group.  This means that you can easily find space to all hang out together – and you can also find spaces where you can take some time by yourself or with a smaller group.

Thirdly, you’ll get all this for a much better price than you’d pay for a hotel. Villas are really cost-effective when you stay as a large group, and usually cheaper per person than having to book lots of hotel rooms. Plus if you choose to, you can have meals in the villa (our villas come with fully equipped kitchens), or spend evenings hanging out round the pool making cocktails instead of paying bar prices.

Fourthly is the service. Our villas all have housekeeping staff and a villa manager who can help you with local information, help you source anything you need and take care of any problems. Many of our villas also have chefs and butlers to serve you food and drink as you please.  You can also contact Bali Comfy Villas at any time if you want to book a trip or if you have any questions or problems.

There’s no problem, right? Villas are the obvious answer when you’re holidaying with your gang. Well, sadly, there is a problem. Large villas are really thin on the ground in Bali. Lucky that we’re here to help! Bali Comfy Villas has a selection of villas that are perfect for a crowd, and we’ve carefully picked out our favourite Bali villas for large groups for you.  But we’ll get to that later – first, where should you base yourself? Well, we’ve narrowed it down to our two favourite options: Canggu or Seminyak.

Canggu – ideal for large groups who want a chilled holiday

Canggu is an excellent pick for large group accommodation – beaches, bars, beach clubs, surfing, great restaurants, spa days, dancing till dawn – you’ve got it all. This vibrant, hip beach town boasts some great beaches – Batu Bolong, Echo Beach and Berawa Beach. With beaches that stretch all the way down to Seminyak and breathtaking sunsets, you can spend the day here, sipping coconuts, maybe taking a surf lesson or two (contact our sister company SurfIsUpBali for more details) before heading for a beer or a cocktail in one of the many beach bars.

Maybe you like your oceanside lounging more on the glamorous side? Canggu has some amazing beach clubs, ranging from hella lively to boho to luxe. Whatever your group prefers, there’s a beach club here for you. For those of you who like your beach clubs large and buzzing, you have to try Atlas, the biggest beach club in the world with restaurants, bars and a giant swimming pool, department stores and even an enormous artificial waterfall. Get here for sunset cocktails and stay for the top international DJs. Then there’s Finns which has everything from oceanside lounging to bars, restaurants and nightclubbing.

If you prefer a more chill beach club you should go for The Lawn, a smaller club (compared to Atlas and Finns) with tranquil vibes, amazing sunset views, an oceanfront pool and delicious food and drink options – as well as some great DJ sessions. Or head over to Echo Beach for La Brisa, the laidback, shabby chic club of dreams. Spend the day lazing under palm trees, sipping on great cocktails, tucking into fresh seafood, watching the waves and enjoying the music – DJs play a Sunset Session from 5-9pm every day.

And there’s a whole world beyond the beach clubs for your eating, drinking and dancing pleasure. For brunch, coffee, lunch and all day dining, you need to visit Milu by Nook, with its tropical garden overlooking rice fields and its menu that nails both local dishes and Western style food. Or try Penny Lane, with its exuberant, Insta friendly décor of vines, fountains and chandeliers. There’s tonnes of lively dinner spots great for a big group too: we love the Canggu branch of Motel Mexicola, with its vibrant flavours and a fiesta feel.

For night time vibes, try Old Man’s, the laid back beach bar at Batu Bolong that stays open every night till 1am (try out Dirty Ol’ Wednesdays), Black Sand Brewery, a cool craft brewery that’s buzzing on Friday nights, or Gimme Shelter, a live music venue open every day till the early hours.

For a change of pace, how about a spa day? Grab your gang and head down to Spring Spa for a quick beauty touch up, or a full mind and rejuvenation package. If you’ve all hit the bars pretty hard, you have to try the brilliant Morning After treatment – we swear by it!

Seminyak – for large groups who love glam and glitz

If your group is into shopping, sipping cocktails and sampling the finer things in life, Seminyak is your perfect base for large group accommodation in Bali. You’ll definitely want to spend a day at Double Six Beach. Beautiful white sands are backed by a great selection of bars and restaurants. Rent sun loungers, treat yourselves to an inexpensive massage, take a group surf lesson, or get together for a horse ride along the beach. Make sure you stay till sunset too: settle on a beanbag, grab a cocktail, and take in the stunning views.

Canggu Bali

You can’t miss the sophisticated beach clubs Seminyak has to offer. Spend a day at Potato Head, Ku De Ta, or Sugarsand, taking in the ocean views, cocktails, pools, music and food.  We love Potato Head for a day in the sun by the infinity pool followed by drinks and nibbles with sunset views on the rooftop terrace. Ku De Ta is the Queen of the beachclub scene, understated and elegant, with amazing food, while Sugarsand is the new pretender, with amazing Japanese inspired food and cocktails.

And don’t forget that Seminyak is a shopping paradise. Explore the chic boutiques of Seminyak Square and Eat Street. We love Uma & Leopold for boho luxe hand embroidery that marries Balinese craftsmanship with Western style, the Bali Tailor for its custom, made to order leather designs and Lost in Paradise for affordable, iconic streetwear.

While you’re in Eat Street, definitely don’t forget to eat! There’s every type of café, bar, and restaurant you could imagine, but for a large group looking for a fun dinner and fun night out, we’d recommend Da Maria. It serves fantastic, authentic Italian food with lively music all night. And if you wait until 10pm, this restaurant turns into a nightclub. Or there’s La Favela, a quirky bar and restaurant by day, and a dance club by night.

Seminyak restaurants

The nightlife is truly buzzing in Seminyak. Red Ruby’s mix of NYC glam and 70s underground Berlin will keep you dancing till 6am. Or there’s the upmarket Mirror Lounge and Club. It’s styled like a gothic church gone bad, with mirrored walls and towering ceilings, mosaic glass, dangling chandeliers and cherubs and crazy futuristic laser lights.

Seminyak is also a great place to treat yourself to a luxury spa day – or maybe get a group makeover. For luxury you can’t beat Prana Spa; for a fun grooming session, head for Shampoo Lounge. This place positively welcomes a group booking, so bring the whole gang and get glammed up for your big night out (the Bali Barber is right next door if you want to drop off the men there).

Beyond Canggu and Seminyak – cool activities for large groups await!

While we recommend that your large group bases itself in either Canggu or Seminyak, you still have the whole island as your playground. Hire motorbikes, get yourself a driver (Bali Comfy Villas can help you) or book an adventure with Bali Comfy Trips. Whichever way you do it, you must get out and explore the island. There’s so much to do for a large group in Bali!

Perhaps you want to try your hand at watersports? Your best bet is to head over to Tanjung Benoa in Nusa Dua – contact us and we can arrange your transport. There are all the usuals here – banana boat, roulette doughnut, snorkeling – but also some more adventurous options like fly boarding, parasailing and jet skiing.

Or head inland for a group rafting trip with Bali Comfy Trips – we can handle transport for big groups. Ayung River in Ubud is a pretty thrilling experience (medium difficulty) and lasts around 2 hours. Or how about ATV? This can be combined with the rafting for an unforgettable day of high adrenaline. While you’re in Ubud, there’s a whole host of other activities to try: think about visiting the Monkey Forest, the highly Instagrammable Tegalalang Rice Terrace or Tegenungan Waterfall with a walk across the 200m Glass Bridge that stands at 40m above the Tukad Petanu stream.

If you need something a little more chill after all that, you should also consider taking a day trip to one of the amazing beachclubs in the south part of the island. A hot favourite is Savaya. Set high up in the cliffs at Uluwatu with incredible views, Savaya is vying for Bali’s party crown with a great line up for every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. It’s luxe, it’s celeb-friendly, its views are stunning: well worth the trip.

Also high up on the cliffs with jaw dropping views is One Eighty. Its signature is its glass bottomed infinity pool that hangs 500ft over a cliff with the Indian Ocean crashing below. That’s not all:  there’s a cliffside VIP deck, a sand lounge with sunbeds, a sky lounge and, if you need to escape the heat, an indoor bar and restaurant too.

So you’ve made your choice about what location works best for you – let’s have a look at the best Bali villas for large groups! We have something that suits every sort of group, and every sort of pocket.

Tara and Cassia: Perfect party villas in the heart of Berawa

For the ideal large group accommodation in Bali, look no further than our Tara and Cassia villas, located in central Canggu. They’re close to Finns and Atlas beach clubs and to some top notch venues like Miss Fish, Riviera, Morabito and Vault. Tara and Cassia are both 7bed villas, large enough on their own for most groups. If you’re a bigger group, rent out the two in combination to give you 14 bedrooms – we just open the sliding door that divides the villas. And if you’re an enormous group you can also rent the 5bed Lotus villa next door to create a huge 19bed listing!

These villas are a dream for a large group of friends. Both Tara and Cassia have something very special – their own entertainment rooms. These rooms feature a private bar, a smart flat screen TV with Netflix and satellite channels, home cinema, a sound system and an additional karaoke room for you to destroy all your favourite tunes (and your friends’ ears).

In Tara, use of the room is free; in Cassia there’s an extra charge as the room additionally includes DJ equipment and disco lights and, if you wish, a live DJ, available for hire. The best thing? That’s the sound proofing. That means that this is one of the very, very few places in residential Canggu where you can make as much noise as you like, as late as you like, without the local police knocking on your door.  Yes, we really did think of everything.

There’s a lot more than entertainment rooms to these beautiful villas. There’s large group fun potential all over them. Both have a 12 x4 private pool with a sunken bar, where you can play bartender and create some bespoke cocktails. There’s a huge open dining space by each pool, each fitting 12 people. And if you don’t want to cook dinner yourselves in the fully equipped kitchens, there is a chef for each villa who can take on that job for you (lunch and dinner comes at extra cost, while breakfast is included in the price).

Anam: Everything under one glorious roof in central Seminyak

If you’re looking for a villa so well equipped that you never need to leave, meet Anam. This 10bed villa (sleeps 20) has all the amenities you dreamed of, and a few that probably never occurred to you. There’s two pools, there’s a cinema room, there’s an actual fully equipped gym, there’s a wine cellar, there’s a juice bar. There’s even the option for having spa treatments in the comfort of your own villa.

Not enough? OK, there’s a pool table in the living room pavilions, there’s a chef who can whip you all up a meal (extra cost for lunch or dinner). There’s a spa for much wanted massages and mani pedis. There are two dining areas with two huge 10 seater dining tables. There’s a roof top lounge area with its own stereo and speaker installation that’s perfect as a yoga space, or just to hang out and watch the sunset. And there’s a wine cellar!

And on top of all this, there’s space. So much space! Set in grounds of 1.400 sqm, this villa is plenty big enough for you to all hang out together, but it’s also big enough for you to easily find your quiet corner.

Still not big enough for you? Well then, combine it with Tangram + Abakoi 12bed interconnected villas and Tiga Puluh 7bed villa, all just metres away, and there you have an enormous 29bed villa. Perfect large group accommodation!

And even though you don’t need to ever leave this villa, you’ll probably want to: it’s located right bang in the middle of Seminyak, with Seminyak Square, Eat Street and Double Six beach all within an easy stroll. Shops, cafes, bars, beach clubs, beach, and even Pura Pettitenget temple are all just a short walk away.

Abakoi + Tiga Puluh: Heaps of space in Central Seminyak

And right next door to Anam, in an equally brilliant location, you can find our next recommendation for large group accommodation in Bali. Tiga Puluh and Abakoi villas come together to make a huge space for everyone to spread out in comfort, at 2.100 sqm of land in total. Tiga Puluh ultra luxe 7bed villa is separated only by a wall from Abakoi 6bed villa. Thanks to one room in Abakoi with bunk beds that can fit 6 people, the two villas together have a capacity of 30 people.

Tiga Puluh is the height of luxury, with its Balinese architecture. There’s  a stunning 500 sqm living room pavilion where you can all hang out together, as well as an air conditioned TV room. The 20m private pool is big enough for a large group of friends. And the layout, with the bedrooms located in 7 separate bungalows that line the pool, means that everyone has their own space.

Abakoi is also a fabulous villa for a large group, with its 16m pool. There’s an open pavilion too, perfect for booking in a massage.

On top of all this, you’ve got 24/7 butler service and a chef upon request, so no-one’s going to get lumbered with doing all the fetching and carrying!

Sally: Huge villa complex in Berawa, Canggu

The Sally villa complex is one of our absolute favourites when it comes to large group accommodation. This complex, which centres around a communal garden (this is a rarity among Bali villas), is comprised of two 3bed villas, one 2bed villa, five 1bed villas and the jewel in the crown, the 4bed Imperial House villa.

This makes the complex highly customizable depending on your group’s needs. Do you want to share a larger villa with several friends? Or would you rather have your own small villa and meet up with the rest of the group in the communal garden and the communal spaces in Imperial House? The choice is yours. All in all, this complex can fit a total of 34 people over 9 villas, each of which enjoys its own private pool.

Let’s talk about the communal facilities. The central garden, shared by all the villas, has a large garden swing and is the perfect place to chill. Then there’s Imperial House. Spread over almost 1 hectare of land, this villa has a huge 17m x 5m infinity pool and tropical gardens where everyone can spend some time together. There’s massage beds next to the pool too. In the evenings, you can all curl up in the home cinema.

Private time in the smaller villas is also pretty idyllic: even the 1bed villas have pools, fully equipped kitchenettes, and dining and living room areas. So if you want some time away from the group, there’s no problem at all.

And all this located right in Berawa. You’re a two minute bike ride away from the beach, where you’ll find Finns and Atlas beach clubs. Berawa is also home to endless cafes and restaurants, like Milk & Madu, and Nude. No chance of being bored if you pick this large villa complex!

Verde + Soho + Under The Sun + Cruz 16bed: Four newly built modern villas in Berawa

Also in Berawa, in a really handy central location, is our group of four identical villas which, when rented together, gives you a total of 16 bedrooms.  Soho, Under The Sun and Cruz are all in the same street together, while Verde is in the next gang, with a connecting door to Soho. You can extend capacity even more – up to 40 people! –  if you take advantage of the extra 2 folding beds provided in 2 rooms of each villa. These are free – in most villas you have to pay extra for additional beds.

These four villas give you a little more independence within your large group than a big single villa. Each one is self-contained and has a pool, 10-pax dining area, living area with smart flat-screen TV, ultra-modern kitchen, and BBQ area. On top of this, they’re brand new, and feature a very modern design with big picture windows letting the light flood through.

And the location gets five stars. You’re just a few metres away from iconic cafes like Nude and Lusa by Suka, and really close to a Western supermarket if you want to stock up and cook meals yourselves. And you’re just a short scooter ride away from Berawa beach! Large group accommodation in Bali doesn’t come much more convenient than this.

Amore: Large group accommodation in the heart of Canggu

If you’re a large group looking to have fun in Canggu, this is one of the best located villas you’ll find. Amore villa is bang in the heart of Canggu. Just across the road there are 2-3 restaurants if you want to quickly pop out for something to eat, as well as a gourmet supermarket if you feel like cooking or snacking. Plus there’s a Starbucks if you have a craving for the familiar! From here you can even walk to Finns Recreation centre – this has a water park, bowling, a gym, even axe throwing.

Amore complex is another group of four identical 4bed villas, accommodating up to 32 people. This is a private grouping of villas – you enter reception and then access the four villas, two next to each other and two opposite each other. This means you have the complex to yourselves.

The architecture style is modern but with nods to Balinese tradition that give it character.  Each villa has everything it needs to be independent – an 8pax dining room, living room with AC and smart flat screen TV and fully equipped kitchen. Outdoors, each villa has its own pool, lush gardens and a Bale (a Balinese outdoor pavilion). There’s even a massage bed upstairs in each villa.

Tamantis: large group accommodation close to Berawa beach

This is our most popular Bali villa for large groups, and for good reason! Located within walking distance of Berawa beach, this perfectly situated group of villas has 9 bedrooms in total and can take up to 21 guests.

Tamantis is made up of three identical 3bed villas that are all interconnected via a garden door. Each villa has its own pool and sunbeds, and as a fun bonus, each also has its own pool table. With this complex you get the best of both worlds: you’re close to everyone in your group, but you also have plenty of your own space too to chill by the pool, or relax in front of the TV.

If 9 bedrooms still isn’t quite enough for you, we can also add on villa Marton, a 3bed villa just a few metres away in the same grouping.

Mojo: True bang for your buck in Batu Bolong

Last of our recommendations for Bali villas for large group accommodation, but very much not least, is Mojo. This villa is right in the heart of Canggu and can fit as many as 24 people, in 12 bedrooms.  Best of all, this is the best value villa for large groups you’re going to find. Very affordable and situated centrally in Batu Bolong, this traditional Balinese style villa is calling your name.

Low price doesn’t mean poor service and amenities either. There are staff present every day, and daily cleaning. The villa is made up of six Lumbung huts that are positioned around the pool, all with AC. There’s also a comfy pavilion overlooking the pool where you can all hang out with a coffee or a beer. There’s a kitchenette and for a little extra you can order breakfast to be served. And when you want to get out and explore, there’s a free shuttle bus to the beach, only 1.5km away, and the hipster cafes and bars of Canggu are just a two minute bike or car ride.

So go and gather your favourite people and get ready for a fun holiday in Bali! Which villa will you choose?
