Two Historic Joglo Houses, One Extraordinary Ubud Estate

Villa Atas Awan is no standard Ubud villa. Set across 5,000 sqm in the Payangan highlands, this seven-bedroom estate features two authentic century-old Javanese Joglo houses, a large swimming pool and wide lawns surrounded by rice fields and tropical greenery. With two living areas, two kitchens and room for up to 14 guests, it is a great fit for families, friends and retreats.

A villa manager, cook, housekeeper, gardener and security team take care of the essentials. Spend the day by the pool, arrange a barbecue or in-villa massage, or use the gardens for yoga sessions, birthday parties, and family gatherings. The villa can host weddings and events for up to 250 standing guests. Additional event services are available on request for an extra charge.

Highland Living with a 30-Metre Pool, Two Joglo Lounges and Dining for 16

The large H-shaped swimming pool sits between the two Joglo houses, facing the rice fields and distant mountains. It combines a 30-metre length pool crossed with two 10 x 5-metre sections, one at each end, giving guests plenty of space for swimming and cooling off. Sun loungers and pool umbrellas lie around the pool. Use the surrounding lawns for children’s playtime, yoga sessions and afternoon barbecues.

The two semi-open living areas are located in separate Joglo houses and connected by a wooden bridge. Both overlook the pool and gardens and come with sofas and traditional Thai triangle cushions. This layout gives a group the choice of gathering in one area or using separate spaces when they want more privacy.

Each Joglo house has its own kitchen and semi-open dining area, with a long table and eight chairs. The two dining tables provide seating for 16 guests in total – we can position them together for larger group meals. Villa staff provide a cooking service, with Indonesian and Western meals available by advance order. Guests are charged for the cost of groceries plus a 30% surcharge.

A Natural Venue for Retreats and Celebrations

Few Ubud villas combine heritage architecture with this much usable outdoor space. The broad lawns, pool area and two original Joglo houses create a distinctive setting for yoga retreats, family celebrations, corporate gatherings and weddings.

We can arrange events for up to 250 standing guests, subject to the villa’s event conditions and additional charges. The estate provides a strong natural backdrop with a style and atmosphere that goes far beyond a conventional hotel venue.

Seven Bedrooms Split Across Two Traditional Joglos

Villa Atas Awan has seven bedrooms spread across two adjoining houses, accommodating up to 16 guests. The villa staff can add up to two extra beds for groups of more than 14 guests, making it ideal for families, couples, and groups of friends. Air conditioning is provided for two bedrooms, and the remaining rooms have standing fans, complemented by Payangan’s cooler highland temperatures. All bedrooms include a wardrobe and safety deposit box. Bathrooms come with towels and complimentary amenities. The villa’s unique infinity bathtubs offer views across the rice paddies and surrounding highlands.

Villa Atas contains three bedrooms: two king rooms with ensuite bathrooms featuring a bathtub and shower, plus one queen room with an ensuite shower bathroom. Each bedroom accommodates two guests.

Villa Awan has four bedrooms: two queen rooms and two twin rooms, each accommodating two guests. One queen room has a private bathroom with a bathtub and shower, while the other shares a bathroom with one of the twin rooms. The remaining twin room has its own bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
