This is definitely a keeper: with a 180-degree view all the way to Jimbaran Bay, yoga shala, gym, spa, home cinema room, infinity pool, and a plunge pool in the master bedroom…

The owners were definitely not playing around when they designed this masterpiece of a villa. Everything is meticulously selected and nothing is left to luck. Each bedroom is themed after an area of Indonesia. There is even a guest book explaining the history and symbols behind each ornament and pattern. For example, the Java room has batik patterns of coffee beans and is decorated with traditional Javanese puppets. In the Sumba room, the fertility symbol is evident in the wooden carving of the door as well as the room’s ornaments.

And we are just getting started…This villa – perfect for a large group of up to 16 people – can keep everyone occupied as it has a spa for relaxing massages, a gym, and an outdoor yoga shala with a breathtaking view and a home cinema room.

The staff can also organize multiple activities, from a Balinese cooking class to a Canang Sari offering (Balinese offering) workshop to Balinese dance to meditation to yoga lessons and the list goes on and on…Activities are also offered outside the villa including a water purification ceremony.

The villa is also generous in terms of space. There is a large enclosed dining area with huge glass windows looking over at Jimbaran Bay. On top of that, there are two more open space living room areas and a bar. You cannot miss the 16*5 m infinity pool with its jaw dropping view as well as the large garden and grass area that wrap around the villa.

In terms of bedding arrangements, there are 6 bedrooms in total: three with king-size beds, one with a queen-size bed, and two each with twin beds. The master bedroom is to die for. It consists of two rooms – one serving as an office/private living room space, while the other is the main bedroom area. Did we mention there is a plunge pool and a bathtub with the best view in the house?

Needless to say every bedroom has office space, private lounge area, safety deposit box, hair dryer, AC, en-suite bathroom and private balcony. Most bedrooms also feature day beds and walk in closets – while all bedrooms have closet space. Most en-suite bathrooms have 2 sinks and freestanding bathtubs (in addition to the shower).

The neighbourhood:

The villa is located in Jimbaran and gets the best of both worlds: both Jimbaran and Nusa Dua. 10 minutes from the villa, you will find two of our favourite less touristy beaches, with white sand and clear blue waters. These are Melasti and Pandawa beaches. In contrast to most beaches in Bali, these beaches are kid friendly as they rarely have waves. Stay until sunset and watch the famous kecak dance at Melasti beach (insider tip: it will be much less crowded than the kecak dance performed at Uluwatu temple).

In terms of food, apart from the Jimbaran fish restaurants (see below) we definitely suggest: 1) Cuca for some serious tapas style food. Do try the honey-baked pumpkin salad, the smoked butterfish and the BBQ octopus and house cocktails 2) Sundara elegant beach club with luxe ocean views, a zero waste cocktail list and high end BBQ 3) Kisik Lounge & Seafood Restaurant mimicking a sea food market with oh-what-a-beach-view 4) Nelayan restaurant with its chic boho beach shack and its fusion of Mediterranean and Balinese cuisine. Whatever you do, do visit Samasta Lifestyle Village, an open space shopping mall with so much more to offer than a traditional Western mall. We are just saying family-friendly cafes, outdoor kiosks, and 17 outlets…

Jimbaran beach, also close by, with its famous fish market and fish restaurants by the beach is not to be missed. Here you will eat the freshest fish in Bali, often accompanied with traditional dancing. The fish restaurants by the beach are definitely touristic and a bit pricey but we promise you it is all worth it. For the braver ones, you can also select fresh fish, lobster and crabs and eat it at the fish market with your bare hands. They cook it for you on the spot and they put some delicious – often spicy – sauces on top.

GWK cultural park is definitely worth a visit. Here you will find the second tallest statue in the world. The Statue of Lord Vishnu riding the mythical bird Garuda is measured at a majestic height of 121 metres. To put this into perspective, New York’s Statue of Liberty stands at 93 metres. As well as the tallest statue in the world, GWK Park features different venues such as the Lotus Pond, Plaza Garuda presided over by the immense statue of Garuda, and Plaza Wisnu, amongst others. The Cultural Park also hosts various Balinese performances and restaurants. You can easily spend a day here if you wish to.

And if you are looking for an adrenaline boost, paragliding at Gunung Payung cliff and watersports at Nusa Dua (Tanjung Benoa beach) are both quite near. Water activities range from the more mainstream banana boat, roulette doughnut and snorkeling, to the more adventurous fly boarding, parasailing, jet skiing, wake boarding and water skiing. A relatively new toy is fly boarding where you can fly up to 10 metres from the sea while throwing some tricks to impress your friends. The best part? It is quite easy to do as it comes as naturally as walking. Another interesting one is the seawalker where you wear astronaut- like gear and literally walk on the bottom of the sea. In contrast to scuba diving (also available), you do not need any previous practice/knowledge. Tanjung Benoa is definitely the place to go if you are looking to spend your day doing watersports.

Getting around:

We can provide a 14seater Hiace mini bus with driver for $85 USD = 1.200.000 IDR for 8 hours or $55 US = 800.000 IDR for 5 hours. Alternatively, the staff can help rent a motorbike. Prices range from $5.5 USD = 80.000 IDR for a standard Vario to $18 US = 250.000 IDR for the more premium Nmax.

We usually stay at one of the luxury hotels in Nusa Dua, but this time my wife wanted to try a villa. I wasn’t too sure about it since I enjoy the service at a hotel, but the staff at this villa exceeded our expectations. They went above and beyond for us. The villa has stunning views and a fantastic location, all the facilities of a top hotel with more privacy. The only downside was not meeting other folks as much. Despite that, we would definitely come back.

My husband and I had our honeymoon in Bali and decided to come back with our children, but with a little more money to spend and in a little more kid friendly place! I thought our honeymoon was perfect but this was even better. The villa is fabulous, spacious, clean, beautiful and such a relaxing, serene place to be. We all loved the pool and home cinema and I loved the spa. I liked how the décor is tied to Indonesia and we could understand the culture a little better. We also tried the water purification ceremony in the village which was so interesting. The beaches here are great for kids, no crazy waves (my aspiring surfer husband was a little disappointed (though he ended up going to Uluwatu which is also close) but our children were happy!). And wonderful seafood down by the bay. I loved it.

This villa is molto bello, very classy and well designed. We love the area too, it is the real Bali with quiet beaches but also close to many things to do. We enjoyed to have a cooking class in the villa thanks to the kind staff, which was fun. For me the best thing is to float in the pool and just enjoy the beautiful view.

This was our first time in Bali and I have to say we were really impressed. The villa was very luxurious and in a very peaceful location. The pool was larger than I expected and with epic views, and we appreciated the top notch facilities like the gym and the cinema room. Don’t miss out on the seafood restaurants just down at Jimbaran Bay.

Heaven! This villa is truly beautiful and we enjoyed every second here. The views and the architecture and décor are something really special. Very friendly helpful staff which made our stay even more delightful. We even booked yoga lessons right in the villa overlooking the bay and it was amazing. Highly recommend.

  • Seminyak

    thumb

Seminyak is the queen of our hearts. A chic tropical version of Paris.

You have not been to Seminyak if you have not strolled around its boutiques, gone to Petitenget for a coffee, had a real Balinese dinner at Made’s Warung, watched the sunset from Potato Head and ended up at a night club for one too many drinks.

  • Canggu

    thumb

Canggu takes a more laid back approach to life. Hipster is the word here.

Take your morning latte with coconut milk at one of the many organic cafes and go for a late lunch at Betelnut (one of the first restaurants to open here). If you don’t have a sunset photo by Batu Bolong beach and did not end up for a late beer at Old Man’s, you have not really been to Canggu.
