Warning: This villa complex should not go unnoticed, if you want to have an unforgettable Bali vacay!

You cannot say we did not warn you! This villa complex is seriously one to have on your watch list for your much needed summer holiday. We are talking two 4bed almost identical villas with a lot of space to fit a big group and by big we mean up to 20 guests. There is of course the two indoor living rooms with flat screen smart TVs with Netflix and home cinema, while one also has karaoke. An amazing veranda upstairs perfect for some company and a bottle of chilled wine and two bikes to hop on and explore Canggu. Of course there is much more than that but we do not want to spoil the surprise so will let you figure it out for yourself!

Fabulously chic and oh-so-modern, Mundano & Lotus 8bed is where Bali architecture meets French and Spanish design. Paintings from Africa, Asia and Europe decorate the villas making them ready to welcome digital nomads from all corners of the world and emitting a homey vibe.

To be more specific, this is a complex of two 4bed villas that interconnect through a garden door. Perfect for relaxation and practically designed, there are two outdoor living spaces with two 8pax dining areas, two living rooms and two modern kitchens overlooking the two private 12m pools. For the cocktail lovers, the one pool has a sunken pool bar perfect for a sunset mojito. And if it gets too hot, there are always the two indoor living rooms with flat screen smart TVs with Netflix and home cinema, while one of them also has karaoke.

Sleep wise, there are eight distinct bedrooms (four per villa). Each villa has one super king size (200*200cm) master bedroom and another king size (180*200cm) suite downstairs. Upstairs there is another king size (180*200cm) and a twin bedroom. All bedroom suites have AC, ceiling fan, deposit box, private lounge space, flat screen 50 inch TV with satellite channels (some also have Netflix), desk space (some of them) and en-suite luxury bathrooms. Mundano’s bedrooms are even themed based on their decoration. You can check in to the ‘Rose’ bedroom, the ‘Buddha’ bedroom suite or upstairs the ‘African’ and ‘Ocean’ suites. Follow our advice and choose the master bedroom with the bathtub and AC on top that calls for endless pampering showers and for some private me time.

The neighbourhood:

Berawa is your oyster but that is only if you can bring yourself to consider stepping out of your newly found paradise. Walk to Nude with its friendly smiles and half raw food that does great poke bowls, cocktails and smoothies. Sip your coffee at Cinta café and select a table at the back to enjoy the view over the ricefields. Just next door, Dua Tiga knows how to do brunch, lunch and dinner and has extensive meal options to please even the most demanding customers, from the pure vegans to the full on carnivores. Do try the protein smoothie bowls with a strong coffee for breakfast.

Step into Hungry Bird and you are in for a bargain, the best latte in Berawa with some oh-so-yummy pancakes that won’t hurt your pocket. For the French lovers, 7islands is your ‘croissanterie a la Balinese’, a gourmet bakery/coffee place that also has decent breakfast options. And of course we couldn’t forget the yummy Eggs Benedict, smoothie bowls and peanut butter biscuits that come with your coffee at Satu Satu.

Now when it comes to lunch and dinner, we will be sure not to leave with an empty stomach. The choice just within the boundaries of Berawa is endless, from pure vegan options such as Peloton Supershop – highly recommended even to non-vegan clients – to sushi places such as Sushimi, Tygr and the more pricey Indigo to yummy Italian pizzerias including La Baracca and Milk and Madu just to name a few! Milu by Nook is also a must for its chill environment, rice field view or simply irresistible food. Do try the spicy tuna poke bowl or ‘ Milu’s Salad’.

If you can summon the strength and it doesn’t break your heart to step out of Berawa, Batubolong (no worries you are still in Canggu) has some great food as well. Do try the real Javanese food at Casa Tua and you will be enchanted not only by its food but also by its setting which takes you to the heart of Java. Penny Lane says it all with its jaw dropping surroundings and delish tapas and cocktails.

Canggu and especially Berawa is popular with families and there is a good reason for this. Tamora Gallery, a shopping and foodie paradise for adults, has also an interesting proposition for children. The ultra-high wooden castle, mini skate ramp and multiple level grass area are a favourite for kids. For some serious fun do try the water slides at Finns Recreation Club, the trampoline area (we are talking thousands of trampolines aligned one after the other) and the bowling space. But get ready to pay a generous price. Just off Berawa but still in Canggu, Parklife is worth a visit. The kids will go crazy at this place as it has everything they could dream of, from an inflatable castle to a playground to movies even to costumes to dress up in. It also offers some decent food and some chilled beers so adults can enjoy it too.

Getting around:

We can provide a 14seater Hiace mini bus with driver for $85 USD = 1.200.000 IDR for 8 hours or $55 US = 800.000 IDR for 5 hours. Alternatively, the staff can help rent a motorbike. Prices range from $5.5 USD = 80.000 IDR for a standard Vario to $18 US = 250.000 IDR for the more premium Nmax.

We loved everything about these villas. The pools were amazing and I loved the sunken pool bar, that was so cool. Both villas are very modern and stylish. The staff were really helpful and organised many trips and activities for us, and gave us good advice on what to do and where to go. If we ever come back to Bali, we will definitely return here.

All villas are new. Staff is always here and complex feels secure. Nice location: good cafe and restaurant around. Grocery just in short walk distance, a little further to the beach. Clean smell. My regards to managers Merry and Leli, they are able to solve any your issue.

Super modern and clean but with warm touches. The property is on a main street with loads of bars, restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance but the villas are nice and quiet! Really great spot to stay, you can also easily get to the beach and there are some clubs if that’s your thing. Merry and Leli the villa managers helped us out with a couple of minor issues and the staff were really helpful with advice about what to do and where to go.

We just loved our stay! The villas were stunning, from the outdoor space to the lounge everything was such good quality. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated. Highly recommended! Very close to popular spots in Canggu.

  • Seminyak

    thumb

Seminyak is the queen of our hearts. A chic tropical version of Paris.

You have not been to Seminyak if you have not strolled around its boutiques, gone to Petitenget for a coffee, had a real Balinese dinner at Made’s Warung, watched the sunset from Potato Head and ended up at a night club for one too many drinks.

  • Canggu

    thumb

Canggu takes a more laid back approach to life. Hipster is the word here.

Take your morning latte with coconut milk at one of the many organic cafes and go for a late lunch at Betelnut (one of the first restaurants to open here). If you don’t have a sunset photo by Batu Bolong beach and did not end up for a late beer at Old Man’s, you have not really been to Canggu.
