Not one, not two, not three, but four Joglo style bungalows facing a 12m ultra large pool nestled where else, but in Berawa.

If you are bored of all the modern villas that have recently popped up in Canggu and are more of a traditional type, then Berawa four 1bed villas will fit you like a glove. Traditional though does not mean falling short of expectations. You will be amazed by the surprises this place holds for you. We are talking endless in-house massages, floating breakfasts in your very own private 12m pool (both come at an extra cost), a basic gym for daily workouts and to spoil you to the max, a 450m walk to reach the beach and the fancy beach clubs. Could anyone ask for anything more?

The four 1bed bungalows sit in the very centre of Berawa, but each one will immediately transport you to the heart of Java. Wooden interiors, Joglo style roofs, distinct Javanese decoration and oh so smooth lighting will have you at hello. Before you even set your foot out the door, you will fall in love with the king size canopy bed. You will adore the outdoor veranda and you will fall head over heels in love with the private lounge space. You will also appreciate that you will have your privacy, as each bungalow is fully independent from the rest. And when you feel like socialising, there is always the pool in the middle to mingle with the friends and loved ones during your suntanning session or two.

Now talking specifics: this listing is set in 700m2 and consists of four 1bed bungalows placed around a large 12m private pool. Three of the 1bed bungalows are set in 120m2, whereas the 4th one is slightly smaller, set in 100m2. All four bungalows include a king size canopy bed and come with AC, satellite TV with 60 local & international channels, a dressing space and deposit box. A free basic gym is also available in the complex. Each bungalow features a living room and dining area, except for the 4th bungalow that only has a living room. There is also a pantry with a mini fridge and water kettle. Next to each bedroom is an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and shower, while the en-suite bathroom of the 4th bungalow only has a shower.

The neighbourhood:

Berawa beach is on your doorstep – literally a 10 minute walk away. Rent an umbrella, order a coconut and suntan on the beach all day. If you are looking for a bit of glamour, Finns Beach Club, just 3 metres from the beach, is your answer. Start your day with a coffee by the pool and end it with one too many mojitos at the buzzing swim-up bar. Do not forget to visit Atlas Beach Fest, which opened its doors in the summer of 2022. It prides itself as the biggest beach club in the world and the biggest nightclub in Bali.

For breakfast or brunch Ruko café – also walking distance from the villa – is a must-try. Hungry Bird is said to have the best latte in town and brunches that won’t hurt your pocket. Other breakfast options include Satu Satu – do order the Eggs Benedict – Cinta café and 7Islands. All these places have a lot of Western dishes, fresh fruit and Indonesian options for breakfast. Coffee ‘n Oven is more of a gourmet bakery/coffee place but still has decent breakfast options.

Once your stomach starts rumbling, try Milu by Nook with its Western/Indo fusion cuisine. If you like raw fish, do order the spicy tuna poke bowl and enjoy the view of the ricefields. For our vegetarian and vegan friends, Peloton Supershop is definitely worth a visit. Top selections include the Creamy Cheesy Lasagne with cashew cheeseor the ‘Power House Salad’ if you are up for something healthier. Warung Heboh offers a cheap and tasty Indonesian style buffet, perfect for a value for money lunch.

Dinner options in Berawa are endless, it just depends on what you are craving. For pizzas to die for, try Milk and Madu and La Baracca. Nude with its friendly smile and half raw food does great poke bowls, cocktails and smoothies. For top notch sushi go to the new Sushimi or the more expensive Indigo.

If you can summon the strength and it doesn’t break your heart to step out of Berawa, Batubolong (no worries you are still in Canggu) has some great food as well. Do try the real Javanese food at Casa Tua Canggu and you will be enchanted not only by its food but also by its setting which takes you to the heart of Java. Penny Lane says it all with its jaw dropping surroundings and delish tapas and cocktails. And of course do pay a visit to the vegetarian Shady Shack with its salads to die for.

For families, do not miss out on Finns Recreation Club – this place truly has it all, from a water park (Splash), to a bowling centre to an outside restaurant and a kids’ club. We also strongly recommend the huge playground at Made’s Warung which is open from breakfast to dinner. Not to forget, Tamora Gallery with its trendy playground and mini skate ramp is also a shopping and foodie paradise for adults.

Getting around:

We can provide a 14seater Hiace mini bus with driver for $85 USD = 1.200.000 IDR for 8 hours or $55 US = 800.000 IDR for 5 hours. Alternatively, the staff can help rent a motorbike. Prices range from $5.5 USD = 80.000 IDR for a standard Vario to $18 US = 250.000 IDR for the more premium Nmax.

We came here to celebrate a 50th birthday and it met our every need. The staff were amazing and really helpful. The large pool was great for our group and we loved the beautiful garden surrounding it. Very comfortable beds to relax in after our celebrations!

My husband and I stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Close to a variety of restaurants and cafes, it was very conveniently located. The bungalows were very comfortable with everything we needed. The staff were really helpful and place was kept very clean.

I stayed here with a group of friends and had a great stay. Perfect facilities including a gym (even if basic), large swimming pool and luxury sleeping areas. We had so much fun staying there and also enjoyed its location in Berawa with cafes, restaurants and bars so close by.

  • Seminyak

    thumb

Seminyak is the queen of our hearts. A chic tropical version of Paris.

You have not been to Seminyak if you have not strolled around its boutiques, gone to Petitenget for a coffee, had a real Balinese dinner at Made’s Warung, watched the sunset from Potato Head and ended up at a night club for one too many drinks.

  • Canggu

    thumb

Canggu takes a more laid back approach to life. Hipster is the word here.

Take your morning latte with coconut milk at one of the many organic cafes and go for a late lunch at Betelnut (one of the first restaurants to open here). If you don’t have a sunset photo by Batu Bolong beach and did not end up for a late beer at Old Man’s, you have not really been to Canggu.
